Midsummer Bivvy on Snowdon Summit

25 07 2011

This post is an experiment. It’s a rescued report from my ex-forum and was stored on my computer in Word. I saw that I could attach word documents ‘as is’ so am putting this one out like that so I can get feedback on what people think about this method of putting out the rest of my archival reports from that forum so, comments please, especially from my regulars off said forum. I know the spacing isn’t great for the photos and will alter that if I do any more and generally tidy them up. It’s the method I’m wanting feedback on thanks 🙂

That’s very generous of you – I’ll let you know. I’ve figured out how to do it (I think) but my home PC is refusing to do ‘view source’ on things. I’ve printed off a fix but haven’t had time to implement it yet (if it works anyway) as I’ve been away again. I can’t do it at work as I can’t access the old forum as the whole of work have been refused access by you-know-who! LOL Thanks for the offer 🙂
Carol.

I`m only seeing about 4 pictures on the Word doc at my end Carol.
I`m using Office 2003 if that`s any use.

Okay, thanks Alex. I’ll have to have a look what version of Word I’ve got at home but my work PC has Word 2007 and that’s working okay. I’ll have a look what I have on my home PC and have another think…

Actually, my home laptop has Word 2007 as well sorry. Not sure what’s going on for you there? Can you try someone else’s PC to see whether you can see them all then? Like Bob’s or someone’s?

Hi Carol. I just read your report in word. Its excellent. A good read as allways and some lovely photos. However, I am not so sure its a good idea to ask visitors to click on a link and then view the report in Word. They may not bother if its not there in front of them?

I have copied the html code from Walkhighlands and recreated the post here.

It doesnt take long to do. The photos remain on walkhighighlands and the report just links to them. Whilst the reports remain on walkhighlands the wordpress reports will always show the pictures.

Thanks for that Colin. Hmmm… you’re obviously a lot more advanced than me with this website stuff then. I wouldn’t have a clue how to copy the HTML from WH. I used to be able to cut and paste the reports directly into here but now I can’t get the photos to copy over, just the text.

Actually, having said that yesterday, I’ve just had a play today and have copied the html you copied and have got the report working on here (still as a draft) after a fashion. It’s still not quite right though so I’ll be having a play around for a while with it…
