Compleation At Last! 31 May 2014

1 06 2014

Hi folks,
Well I’ve done it at last – my compleation took place on Sat 31 May 2014 on Beinn a’ Chleibh and Ben Lui (twice!) – you’ll have to wait approximately 3 weeks to read the details as I have to wait for my photos, write the report etc. and am due to go on a top-bagging trip to Glen Shiel soon!

Thanks to Alan B for accompanying me on the whole walk and Bob and Richard for doing Ben Lui with me and for all the nice surprises and treats at the summit ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice to see you Alan/Chalky at the start before you rushed off to Germany – that was really nice of you to come up specially to see me off and wish me luck ๐Ÿ™‚

So, that’s the Munros done – now for the remaining 55 tops…

Great achievement, well done Carol. I only tripped over this site by accident, but have spoken to you before in a previous incarnation a few times. Didn’t think I would ever see this after reading your early posts so again well done

I’m assuming you mean on a certain forum? LOL Nope, I never thought I’d do them all – I was thinking until about the start of last year that I’d only ever be a ‘mainland compleatist’.

Well done – It must feel liberating to be able to climb a hill because its a good hill, not because its one that isn’t ticked off the list. Then again looking at that lump in the Cairngorms…

I don’t know – I am an out-and-out bagger and I think I’ll miss the list-ticking when I’ve done the Munro Tops as well. That’s what motivates me – let’s face it – it’s not often I get a view! There are definitely different types of walker that’s for sure. I actually enjoy the planning and logistics side almost as much as the walking really.

Thanks:-) now for the next list – not sure I’m going to be doing all the Corbetts though – I think I’ll be just picking and choosing after the tops.

Congratulations Carol. Not only have you finished the Munros, you will have inspired others to take up the challenge through your blog posts. Or in my case you’ve made me reconsider climbing mountains I thought were beyond my capabilites โ€“ the Cuillin, for instance, though I haven’t had a crack at them yet. All the best with your next challenge.
Cheers, Alen

Thanks Alen – what a nice comment – I’ll be glad if I have inspired others. I always try to be helpful and informative in my posts but wasn’t sure they were necessarily inspiring – in fact, I often wondered whether I put others off with my tales of fear and doom sometimes!

Congratulations Carol! I thought of you compleating while we were out doing our favourite round of the planche des belles filles in the Vosges last weekend.

Thanks Susie ๐Ÿ™‚ Well, for once, I had equally good weather – although I’m sure it was cooler which, bearing in mind the hard day we had, was probably a good thing. It was just right – fairly cool but lovely and clear and sunny ๐Ÿ™‚

Well done Carol. It was a great day out and an impressive mountain peak to finish on. A scramble up and a scramble down. My kind of day :o)

I enjoyed the scramble up…

Thanks for coming Bob – we enjoyed your company – shame you missed the pub after as someone paid our tab for us!

Well done – I have enjoyed reading your exploits. We were in Arran last week and slogged up Goat Fell, which is not even a Munroe. Worth a trip though, also do not miss Holy Isle, which has its own mini top plus two lighthouses, many wild goats and Buddhists too.

I’ve done quite a few of the Arran hills (reports on here) and I love the hills and the island in general. One of my favourite places was Machrie Moor with its stone circles. Haven’t been to Holy Isle yet or met the Buddhists though,

Well done…you worked hard to get round them all! More hard work for the tops….I don’t know how many there are of these?
I went the way of the Corbetts but knd-of got out of the way of travelling to reach the missing ones.:-)

I don’t think I’m going to do all the Corbetts – just the ones I fancy.

I only have 55 tops left (only had 58 to do anyway as otherwise I collected them during my Munroing) so it shouldn’t be too bad. I’ve forgotten how many there are in total at the moment but it’s over 200 – less than the Munros though.
