Despite the road between Armadale and Broadford being a good, fast road (something I love), last time we came from the ferry at Armadale, Richard spotted this back road on the map which looked to take a more interesting detour – it did! This road, if driven in the direction of Armadale to Broadford, yields superb views of the Black Cuillin and the Red Hills…

Leaving Tarskavaig, the road continues around to Ord before going back to join the main road. There are still superb views across the ragged and indented coastline to the mighty Cuillin Ridge…

Never seen Garsbheinn look so sharp!
While these views of the Cuillin aren’t quite the equal of those from Elgol, I think they come pretty close myself.
It’s 40 years since I cycled this road and I’ve no memory of the scenery. Kind of strange given I’m sure the weather was clear. Thanks for the reminder.
The MBA we’re looking at restoring the ruins at Dalavil of this road into a bothy. It didn’t go ahead due getting entangled with funding requirements of the Heritage Lottery Fund. The MBA isn’t a heritage organisation.

I’m pretty sure we went round there in the old motorhome back last May…. Anyway, your photos look pretty fine to me!

It’s a great wee road for cycling that as well as most folk drive straight past that minor loop and the views are lovely with really quiet tarmac, not always something you get in Skye during the summer months. Gleann Meadhonach is pretty special in that area as well and really remote. Great photos.

I think it would be too hilly for me to cycle – I’m pretty wet when it comes to hills and generally get off and walk!

Skye is superb for exploration – must easily be the best Scottish island – lots of variety

Definitely some good views there, though the ones from Elgol are hard to beat.

Yeah, they are the classic views – nicer beaches on this one though 😉
