We don’t seem to get many great sunsets in the north of England, unlike Scotland and The Islands. However, just occasionally, we get a great one and this is the view from my house down the street. As it won’t be my street much longer, now’s the time to put this post out I think…

Superb blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any tips? Cheers!

Thanks. I think the free WordPress is fine myself and can’t see why anyone would pay – unless they make us in the future of course. I can’t see many of us willing to lose our precious blogs!

I’m leaving Skipton area, yes, but have to get a new job over there before I can leave the society. Are you still enjoying your ‘new’ job?

Nice photos. When are you moving? Now that we’re parttime on Lismore I can confirm that the west coast of Scotland is the place for to die for sunsets.🌄

Yeah I know it is from my time in the Hebs! I’ve no idea when I’ll be able to move fully – depends on giving up full time work here

Nice sunset Carol. Has anyone got a spirit level down there as that’s a great collection of squinty poles around your area :o). .
Wot happened to the An Teallach trip in May as I was expecting that next? Weather didn’t look that great mind you up there but it’s hard to judge from a forecast- just showers predicted which could mean anything from thick clag all day to brief light rain and sunshine but otherwise fine conditions.

there are 2 hill reports before An Teallach yet. The pole might be crooked or it might be that I seem to take a lot of photos on a slant – the same slant. Possibly something to do with the fact that I’m often dizzy and regularly walk into doorways and the like – it’s a known condition I think…
But, many of these were on my point-and-shoot digi-camera and I don’t see how it’s possible to keep one of those level as it isn’t up against your face like the SLR…

The farther north…the longer they last. Thanks for the views.

I’m hoping to get back to the Outer Hebrides/Uists at the end of June for the first time in over 10 years – I love the fact it almost doesn’t get dark at all and there’s a glow at midnight on the northern horizon which is almost the ‘midnight sun’

We were in Castlebay, Barra, in 1999 for a few days. We noticed the late sunsets and early sunrises along with the very lengthy twilights.
