Mean Joke!

14 02 2020

I’m off to see Ozzy Osbourne soon – supposedly it’s his last tour. Should be a good do – apparently he has Alzheimers now so he’ll sing everything twice! πŸ˜‰

(Before anyone gets offended, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he’d made a similar joke about himself and the situation – it would fit with his sense of humour).

Enjoy the concert! I loved those deep rifts of Tony Iommi, no one else plays like that.

I saw Wilko Johnson on his farewell tour following his diagnosis with inoperable cancer. Turned out not to be his last tour. A course of treatment was found and he’s still with us.πŸ™‚ Mind you his bass player, Norman Watt-Roy, has always looked nearer to checking out than Wilko……..

Agreed – absolutely NO-ONE plays like Iommi – and with fingers missing too!

I love Ozzy, I think the truth is he has been dead for years but no one has had the heart to tell him.

Enjoy the gig Carol, Ozzy is brilliant live. Saw him with Black Sabbath in the 1990s.

I’ve only really ‘seen’ him at festivals, e.g. Donington – and you’re so far away you don’t really see much. He always has great musicians though and is still talented and very likeable.

Have a great time, Carol! I didn’t know he had Alzheimers as well. I know he’s been diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease recently, which is what my dad had, so I was particularly interested in that. But I’m sure neither will affect how much you enjoy – or him for that matter! – will enjoy the gig. πŸ™‚ And anyway, so what if he sings the songs twice – they’re good enough to take it! πŸ˜€

yeah they are – my point exactly. He’s got Zakk Wylde still as his guitarist too whom I like. Still miss Randy Rhoades though…

Yep, all the legends getting old. He will have good company up there when he does go though with all the rest of the rockers waiting for him. Hope you enjoy it.

Also – I might go to the SSE Hydro gig rather than the Newcastle one (as I’d have to book 2 days off for that one). Is it good to get to on a Sunday via public transport and, more to the point, back after 2300 hours? I think I read there were trains from Central Station…

Years since I’ve been to a gig in Glasgow on a Sunday as I tend to avoid public transport altogether on that day. Limited service then on buses, underground and trains so you would need to look it up online to be sure. Even then, if you miss one, late at night, for any reason, there might not be anything else except for a taxi.

Trainline reckon the trains run until 2325 on a Sunday which should be okay. The only worry I’ll have is whether the train will be too full. But, having said that, as I’m a woman, they’ll probably give me priority and make the men walk back! πŸ˜‰

Glen Campbell also had Alzheimers. He was still pretty solid onstage when he needed to sing. I’ll be interested to hear your impression of Ozzy.

I reviewed UFO’s final concert (well at least I went to one of the concerts on their final tour) so you never know, I might end up reviewing this one as well. I’m not exactly a rock journo though!
