Unfortunately, as the weather for the last couple of months has been completely dire, I haven’t been up any hills at all. Also, for the interesting gill I did a couple of months back, the film is still languishing in my camera waiting to be finished (never mind processed etc.). So, I’m inflicting a couple more ‘artwork’ posts on you.
I drew these back in my 20s and 30s (I don’t seem to get around to drawing nowadays or be in the ‘mood’ to draw) and they will mostly be off photos from magazines etc. Most of them haven’t been treated well and the paper has considerable deterioration!
Starting out with pets:
Domestic animals – don’t think this is from a photo – not sure…
one of my favourite animals (the cow not the girl)
The wilder stuff:
Actually, this could be a pet bunny as I’ve drawn it pretty glossy and, yes, I know the forelegs are too short!
My brother says I have ‘conflicting continents’ on this one, i.e. the 2 species don’t live in the same place. He may be right!
Two of my favourites – love the caption on the left which says “ah! Bisto” (for those who can remember the old ad!

Wow, Carol, I’m so impressed! These are amazing! You’ve captured the very essence of the animals, and they seem so animated and real. It’s such a shame you don’t do this any more as you clearly have a true natural talent. Bloomin’ well done! 🙂

I wish I still felt the urge but, I feel without it, I won’t be able to produce anything like those any more.

It is a shame, indeed. But you will still have the talent – skill like that doesn’t disappear – and you never know, the urge may return one day. 🙂

They are all very good with great active detail bringing them alive. You have an artist’s eye. Same here with poems- last one was 20 years back. Must be a youthful inclination and seeing the world with fresh un-jaded eyes back then.

Well I wasn’t that youthful for the next ones (horses) as I was around 40 when I drew my last one… My brother wrote poetry – my mother has a clock with one of his poems on it.

Really good. You should do it for money.

You have to be in the mood though – and I haven’t been in that mood for the last 20 years or so unfortunately…

Thanks Chrissie – I can see faults on most of the drawings but I’m sure there’s no such thing as a perfect drawing anyway!

Very nice. You even have the Osprey’s talons in the right position.
