During mine and Richard’s trip to say farewell to the folks we stay with down Borrowdale, Richard also wanted to say farewell to Langstrathdale. He wanted to see if it was as long a valley (the ‘Lang’ in the name) as he remembered… Read the rest of this entry »

Evening Dock Tarn & Haystacks Again
6 06 2019Although Rosthwaite in Borrowdale is too near where I now live for me to stay, we’ve stayed for decades now at The Royal Oak Hotel in Rosthwaite and become very friendly with the owners and staff. I’ve just received an e-mail saying the place has now been sold and so I thought we’d best book a few nights’ stay in order to see everyone again and see how we can keep in touch! Durham – a Beautiful Old City Day Out
17 04 2019The day of my UFO Concert in Newcastle, we had a few hours to fill. I’d never been to Durham but it was only 15 minutes from Newcastle by train so Richard and I decided to go there. He’d been before so could act as my guide 🙂 Read the rest of this entry »

Alcock Tarn Evening Walk
29 03 2019Feb 2019
The evening before my Fairfield walk, I’d arrived at our hotel in what was a gorgeous late afternoon – sunny and very warm. Richard hadn’t yet arrived so I decided that, although there was only an hour and a half of daylight left, I ought to at least go up to the lovely Alcock Tarn with my camera! Still getting going in the hills after the hip op but this was before the last post where I finally managed to get into the bigger hills at last (Fairfield/Blencathra). I’ve been waiting for my film using up/processing though…

Sale Fell – Excellent Skiddaw Viewpoint
16 12 2018Recently I’ve been doing Sale Fell by Bassenthwaite quite a few times. The first time I forgot my camera on a beautiful day – it was another great day the next day too so I went back again to do the fell properly – with my camera! Read the rest of this entry »

Merry Christmas to you all!
23 12 2017Hope you all have a great Christmas!
This photo is of the sun one day this year – it was actually much brighter red than my digi-camera shows and was truly weird. The reason it was red, apparently, was because dust from the Sahara was in the atmosphere making it appear red through the haze…

New House – The Good… and the Maybe…
29 08 2017There are some really great things about my new house in its ‘proper rural’ location – my old house used to be in a rural location but sadly is no longer 😦 As there are only 8 houses and a farm in my new ‘village’, hopefully it will be some time before it befalls the same fate… Read the rest of this entry »

An Teallach Compleation Walk – My Photos…
28 06 2017It took me ages to use up my film after my Munro Tops Compleation walk on An Teallach so, in the end, I just went along with Mark’s excellent photos from the day. However, I promised in my last post I’d put mine out when I got them so here they are! Read the rest of this entry »
