An Teallach Compleation Walk – My Photos…

28 06 2017

It took me ages to use up my film after my Munro Tops Compleation walk on An Teallach so, in the end, I just went along with Mark’s excellent photos from the day. However, I promised in my last post I’d put mine out when I got them so here they are! Read the rest of this entry »

Finished on An Teallach!

20 06 2017

Thu 18 May 2017
The day of my Munro Tops Compleation arrived and I’d only managed to scrape two companions together and ended up, by the end of the walk, with just one! Maybe it was because I’d had to make it mid-week as I couldn’t get any weekend accommodation in the area? or maybe I’m just unpopular!

Sgurr Dubh & a String of Disasters

9 10 2016

Wed 5 Oct 2016
This is the follow up to my previously wasted 1000 mile trip (well, would have been wasted if I hadn’t managed to do Ben y Vrackie on the return). From start to finish it pretty much went wrong but it was still a great day out and a superb route to this particular Munro Top.

Making a Mess of Sgor Ban, Beinn a’ Bheithir

28 07 2016

Tue 14 June 2016
Richard and I were once again staying at the lovely log cabins at Bunroy, Roybridge for a week and my one and only objective for the week was to bag one of my final Munro Tops, Sgor Ban on the Beinn a’ Bheithir horseshoe. My plan was to ascend the front of the peak from West Laroch and come down the fine North Ridge of Sgor Dearg next door. My route ended up nothing like that – I made a total mess of the whole walk and came back completely exhausted!

Forcan Ridge with Steve Fallon

26 06 2016

Sat 4 June 2016
For ages I’d debated and stressed about the best way to approach the gnarly Munro Top of Sgurr nan Forcan – I was starting to think it was going to be my hardest top…

Carn Cloich-Mhuillin

21 04 2016

Fri 25 March 2016
No other Munro Top is better known than Carn Cloich-Mhuilinn as it is ‘the one that got away’ as Sir Hugh Munro had been keeping it till last but died before he could do it. I felt like I was going to die on it!

Druim Mor & Monega Hill (Caenlochan Glen)

31 10 2015

Thu 1 Oct 2015
This day was quite a long drive and potentially a reasonably long walk so I decided I had to set off early again. I was scraping thick ice off my car by 0830 with the help of Richard who wasn’t coming – he was having a day in Aberdeen on the bus. I’d put the bike on the back seat again in the hope I could use it for at least some of the track up Glen Isla. Read the rest of this entry »

Lochnagar via The Royal Bothy

23 10 2015

Sun 27 Sep 2015
As Richard hadn’t done Lochnagar, and as it was on his list of desired Munros, he honoured me with his company for this one. Unfortunately for him, I wanted to do the longer route from the north this time – partly because I’ve already done the much shorter route from the south but mainly because I wanted to see the ‘Royal Bothy’ at Gelder Shiel.

The Four Tops (Glen Derry)

18 10 2015

Tue 29 Sep 2015
Knowing I was in for a very long and hard day and that daylight hours are much reduced at this time of the year, I thought I’d best prise myself out of bed a bit earlier than normal. Ten past eight saw me setting off in the car for Linn O’ Dee…

Am Fasarinen – Liathach’s Gnashers

10 10 2015

Sat 5 Sep 2015
To say I normally hate Liathach (although not the Western end particularly), I had a great day this time. The weather helped for a change though…
