I’d been eyeing up the top (exciting) parts of this gill for ages during my ascents and descents from various parts of the Newlands Round. Last year I finally got around to having an explore – I’d waited for a dry spell but it didn’t help with some of the waterfalls!

Test Post – Stray Photos
29 11 2020Due to the sheer awfulness of WordPress’s new ‘block editor’, I’m having to do a completely test post. These are photos which surfaced later than some of the walks I’ve already posted and I simply dare not edit the existing posts in case I end up breaking them so I’m putting them in a post of their own! Glaramara & Allen Crags
23 06 2019Wed 10 Apr 2019
During mine and Richard’s trip to say farewell to the folks we stay with down Borrowdale, Richard also wanted to say farewell to Langstrathdale. He wanted to see if it was as long a valley (the ‘Lang’ in the name) as he remembered… Read the rest of this entry »

Evening Dock Tarn & Haystacks Again
6 06 2019Although Rosthwaite in Borrowdale is too near where I now live for me to stay, we’ve stayed for decades now at The Royal Oak Hotel in Rosthwaite and become very friendly with the owners and staff. I’ve just received an e-mail saying the place has now been sold and so I thought we’d best book a few nights’ stay in order to see everyone again and see how we can keep in touch! Alcock Tarn Evening Walk
29 03 2019Feb 2019
The evening before my Fairfield walk, I’d arrived at our hotel in what was a gorgeous late afternoon – sunny and very warm. Richard hadn’t yet arrived so I decided that, although there was only an hour and a half of daylight left, I ought to at least go up to the lovely Alcock Tarn with my camera! Merry Christmas to you all!
23 12 2017Hope you all have a great Christmas!
This photo is of the sun one day this year – it was actually much brighter red than my digi-camera shows and was truly weird. The reason it was red, apparently, was because dust from the Sahara was in the atmosphere making it appear red through the haze…

New House – The Good… and the Maybe…
29 08 2017There are some really great things about my new house in its ‘proper rural’ location – my old house used to be in a rural location but sadly is no longer 😦 As there are only 8 houses and a farm in my new ‘village’, hopefully it will be some time before it befalls the same fate… Read the rest of this entry »
